Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Financials, Software & Computer Services and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 1.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.75% or 2.400 points to trade at 89.820 at the close. Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) added 2.62% or 0.670 points to end at 26.220 and Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) was up 2.29% or 0.88 points to 39.26 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML), which lost 1.39% or 2.00 points to trade at 141.56 in late trade. Aalberts Industries NV (AS:AALB) declined 0.58% or 0.17 points to end at 29.12 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) shed 0.38% or 0.01 points to 2.11.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 95 to 34 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 10.19% to 19.78.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 4.21% or 2.17 to $53.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 4.61% or 2.77 to hit $62.83 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.59% or 7.30 to trade at $1250.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.1385, while EUR/GBP rose 0.60% to 0.8953.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 96.730.
