Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Industrial Metals & Mining and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which rose 3.71% or 12.25 points to trade at 342.45 at the close. BP PLC (LON:BP) added 3.68% or 16.70 points to end at 470.70 and Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) was up 2.26% or 195.00 points to 8815.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP), which lost 1.67% or 4.70 points to trade at 277.50 in late trade. British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) declined 1.53% or 9.50 points to end at 612.50 and Hammerson PLC (LON:HMSO) shed 1.44% or 8.50 points to 581.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1126 to 788 and 452 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.32% or 3.85 to $1199.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.89% or 0.44 to hit $48.84 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.92% or 0.48 to trade at $51.71 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.05% to 1.2159, while EUR/GBP rose 0.92% to 0.8773.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.53% at 101.44.
