Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financial Services, Materials and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC fell 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which rose 1.39% or 4.670 points to trade at 339.990 at the close. Grupo Aeroportuario Del Pacifico (MX:GAPB) added 0.95% or 1.460 points to end at 155.090 and Gruma SAB de CV (MX:GRUMAB) was up 0.41% or 1.130 points to 278.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB), which lost 4.32% or 2.04 points to trade at 45.06 in late trade. La Comercial (MX:LCMRUBC) declined 3.45% or 0.64 points to end at 17.76 and Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (MX:GFINBURO) shed 2.98% or 1.060 points to 34.390.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 87 to 75 and 9 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.49% or 6.00 to $1217.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.32% or 1.22 to hit $35.57 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.77% or 1.07 to trade at $37.60 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.80% to 17.4781, while EUR/MXN rose 0.82% to 19.9125.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 94.56.
