Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods & Services, Telecoms Services and Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC lost 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES), which rose 3.08% or 12.31 points to trade at 411.95 at the close. Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (MX:OMAB) added 2.99% or 2.790 points to end at 96.050 and Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX:WALMEX) was up 2.13% or 0.950 points to 45.560 in late trade.
Biggest losers included El Puerto De Liverpool Sab De CV (MX:LIVEPOLC1), which lost 2.89% or 3.87 points to trade at 130.15 in late trade. Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB) declined 2.83% or 1.820 points to end at 62.580 and Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) shed 2.28% or 0.610 points to 26.100.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 154 to 146 and 11 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.67% or 8.90 to $1320.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.60% or 1.65 to hit $61.74 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.14% or 0.09 to trade at $65.38 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.15% to 18.7699, while EUR/MXN fell 0.02% to 23.0475.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.71% at 90.16.
