Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Materials, Consumer Staples and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC rose 0.95%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES), which rose 5.34% or 24.250 points to trade at 478.400 at the close. Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO) added 4.42% or 0.510 points to end at 12.050 and Telesites SAB de CV (MX:SITESL) was up 3.59% or 0.390 points to 11.260 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ohl Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:OHLMEX), which lost 1.63% or 0.360 points to trade at 21.710 in late trade. Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA) declined 1.12% or 2.840 points to end at 251.510 and Coca-Cola Femsa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:KOFL) shed 0.81% or 1.200 points to 146.780.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 116 to 54 and 7 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.14% or 1.95 to $1356.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.96% or 0.89 to hit $44.52 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.48% or 0.69 to trade at $46.07 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.13% to 18.4819, while EUR/MXN fell 0.11% to 20.4365.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.31% at 96.61.
