Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Materials, Consumer Staples and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC rose 0.92%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Empresas ICA , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICA), which rose 7.73% or 0.170 points to trade at 2.370 at the close. Infraestructura Energetica Nova SAB (MX:IENOVA) added 3.34% or 2.45 points to end at 75.82 and Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO) was up 2.59% or 0.300 points to 11.870 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB), which lost 1.90% or 0.85 points to trade at 43.77 in late trade. Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico (MX:SANMEXB) declined 1.87% or 0.640 points to end at 33.500 and PINFRA SAB De CV (MX:PINFRA) shed 1.43% or 3.110 points to 214.170.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 100 to 60 and 8 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 2.78% or 33.65 to $1246.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.69% or 0.34 to hit $48.83 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.48% or 0.24 to trade at $49.80 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.43% to 18.5979, while EUR/MXN rose 1.49% to 21.1385.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.73% at 93.91.
