Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms Services, Materials and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 2.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were America Movil SAB de CV (MX:AMXL), which rose 5.41% or 0.715 points to trade at 13.935 at the close. Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (MX:OMAB) added 5.28% or 4.520 points to end at 90.060 and Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB) was up 5.26% or 2.100 points to 42.030 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM), which lost 2.24% or 1.110 points to trade at 48.500 in late trade. PINFRA SAB De CV (MX:PINFRA) declined 1.41% or 2.58 points to end at 180.69 and Grupo Cementos De Chihuahua (MX:GCC) shed 1.32% or 1.400 points to 104.710.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 181 to 112 and 10 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.04% or 0.50 to $1229.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.19% or 1.10 to hit $51.39 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.30% or 0.77 to trade at $59.86 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.15% to 20.2685, while EUR/MXN rose 0.08% to 23.0781.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 96.705.
