Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 3.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd (T:5019), which rose 0.32% or 9.0 points to trade at 2784.0 at the close. Kao Corp. (T:4452) added 0.10% or 7.0 points to end at 7144.0 and Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.0 points to 446.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nissan Chemical Industries, Ltd. (T:4021), which lost 7.80% or 490.0 points to trade at 5790.0 in late trade. Advantest Corp. (T:6857) declined 7.51% or 710.0 points to end at 8750.0 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) shed 6.53% or 580.0 points to 8300.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 3099 to 518 and 139 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 26.53.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 1.02% or 0.65 to $62.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.98% or 0.65 to hit $65.46 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 1.16% or 20.60 to trade at $1754.80 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.11% to 106.09, while EUR/JPY fell 0.44% to 128.75.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 90.472.
