Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Insurance, Communication and Pharmaceutical Industry sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.63% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (T:4519), which rose 2.67% or 115.0 points to trade at 4420.0 at the close. Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301) added 2.39% or 19.0 points to end at 815.0 and Dentsu Inc. (T:4324) was up 2.35% or 105.0 points to 4580.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sekisui House, Ltd. (T:1928), which lost 3.10% or 58.5 points to trade at 1831.0 in late trade. Concordia Financial Group Ltd (T:7186) declined 2.99% or 15.9 points to end at 515.9 and Olympus Corp. (T:7733) shed 2.89% or 110.0 points to 3690.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2052 to 1132 and 272 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.83% to 17.21.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.08% or 0.04 to $49.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.46% or 0.25 to hit $54.74 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.63% or 8.51 to trade at $1358.81 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.75% to 107.64, while EUR/JPY fell 0.55% to 129.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 91.24.
