Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Asahi Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5201), which rose 2.21% or 70.0 points to trade at 3235.0 at the close. Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (T:7912) added 1.88% or 39.0 points to end at 2112.0 and TDK Corp (T:6762) was up 1.47% or 180.0 points to 12420.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. (T:2502), which lost 4.21% or 159.0 points to trade at 3618.0 in late trade. Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (T:3099) declined 4.03% or 23.0 points to end at 548.0 and Nikon Corp. (T:7731) shed 3.51% or 23.0 points to 632.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2782 to 736 and 169 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 19.29.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.49% or 0.20 to $40.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.55% or 0.24 to hit $43.08 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.15% or 2.85 to trade at $1904.45 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.04% to 105.19, while EUR/JPY fell 0.06% to 123.43.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 93.525.
