Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707), which rose 5.33% or 123.0 points to trade at 2430.0 at the close. Advantest Corp. (T:6857) added 4.79% or 370.0 points to end at 8100.0 and Yokogawa Electric Corp. (T:6841) was up 4.61% or 92.0 points to 2089.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Toyo Seikan Group Holdings, Ltd. (T:5901), which lost 3.58% or 39.0 points to trade at 1051.0 in late trade. Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911) declined 2.90% or 207.0 points to end at 6938.0 and Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568) shed 2.90% or 105.0 points to 3510.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1934 to 1564 and 244 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 21.23.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.02% or 0.01 to $47.61 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.20% or 0.10 to hit $50.99 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.01% or 0.15 to trade at $1946.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.20% to 102.89, while EUR/JPY fell 0.06% to 126.20.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 89.692.
