Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707), which rose 7.86% or 169.0 points to trade at 2318.0 at the close. Takashimaya Co., Ltd. (T:8233) added 3.40% or 29.0 points to end at 881.0 and Canon Inc (T:7751) was up 3.32% or 57.5 points to 1788.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911), which lost 3.49% or 240.0 points to trade at 6641.0 in late trade. Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) declined 3.19% or 23.0 points to end at 699.0 and Ube Industries, Ltd. (T:4208) shed 3.16% or 61.0 points to 1871.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2209 to 1260 and 228 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 22.86.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 2.89% or 1.15 to $38.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 2.59% or 1.09 to hit $40.98 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.20% or 3.85 to trade at $1901.35 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.19% to 104.89, while EUR/JPY unchanged 0.00% to 124.19.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 92.920.
