Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Hino Motors, Ltd. (T:7205), which rose 6.66% or 50.0 points to trade at 801.0 at the close. Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) added 3.91% or 28.0 points to end at 745.0 and Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp (T:9432) was up 3.31% or 73.5 points to 2295.5 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568), which lost 3.30% or 102.0 points to trade at 2985.0 in late trade. Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523) declined 3.20% or 312.0 points to end at 9450.0 and Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506) shed 2.81% or 39.0 points to 1348.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1812 to 1657 and 210 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 23.54.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 1.23% or 0.50 to $40.17 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.89% or 0.38 to hit $42.27 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.62% or 11.90 to trade at $1896.90 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.24% to 105.87, while EUR/JPY rose 0.44% to 124.46.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 93.752.
