Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Glass, Electrical/Machinery and Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 2.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506), which rose 14.59% or 314.0 points to trade at 2466.0 at the close. Hitachi Construction Machinery Co (T:6305) added 8.47% or 251.0 points to end at 3215.0 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) was up 8.09% or 490.0 points to 6550.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366), which lost 17.32% or 80.0 points to trade at 382.0 in late trade. Oji Holdings Corp. (T:3861) declined 5.26% or 41.0 points to end at 739.0 and The Kansai Electric Power Co. (T:9503) shed 4.76% or 84.0 points to 1682.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2615 to 906 and 158 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.49% to 26.15.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.47% or 0.30 to $63.39 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.27% or 0.20 to hit $72.69 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.15% or 1.80 to trade at $1236.80 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.17% to 112.91, while EUR/JPY rose 0.44% to 129.16.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 95.90.
