Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Rakuten Inc (T:4755), which rose 8.64% or 99.0 points to trade at 1245.0 at the close. CyberAgent Inc (T:4751) added 8.19% or 510.0 points to end at 6740.0 and SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) was up 7.69% or 178.0 points to 2492.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takara Holdings Inc. (T:2531), which lost 2.28% or 35.0 points to trade at 1500.0 in late trade. Tokyu Fudosan (T:3289) declined 2.16% or 15.0 points to end at 681.0 and Konica Minolta, Inc. (T:4902) shed 2.11% or 13.0 points to 602.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2235 to 1279 and 234 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 24.91.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.68% or 0.45 to $65.57 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.62% or 0.43 to hit $69.20 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.83% or 14.30 to trade at $1708.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.48% to 109.01, while EUR/JPY rose 0.14% to 130.19.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 91.752.
