Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Rubber, Railway & Bus and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 1.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were JGC Corp. (TYO:1963), which rose 6.05% or 125.50 points to trade at 2,200.50 at the close. Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd (TYO:5019) added 4.76% or 164.00 points to end at 3,606.00 and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (TYO:7003) was up 4.50% or 28.00 points to 650.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kubota Corp. (TYO:6326), which lost 1.60% or 38.00 points to trade at 2,342.00 in late trade. Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107) declined 1.32% or 72.00 points to end at 5,383.00 and Toho Co., Ltd. (TYO:9602) shed 1.11% or 62.00 points to 5,517.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2290 to 1325 and 248 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.54% to 16.48.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.77% or 0.68 to $89.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.70% or 0.64 to hit $92.52 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.24% or 4.70 to trade at $1,927.80 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.17% to 147.20, while EUR/JPY fell 0.08% to 158.09.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 104.32.
