Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Electrical/Machinery, Power and Trading sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 1.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523), which rose 16.34% or 1504.0 points to trade at 10710.0 at the close. Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976) added 8.54% or 270.0 points to end at 3430.0 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) was up 5.08% or 385.0 points to 7965.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (T:7201), which lost 3.84% or 40.0 points to trade at 1002.0 in late trade. Otsuka Holdings Ltd (T:4578) declined 3.65% or 184.0 points to end at 4851.0 and Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301) shed 3.64% or 73.0 points to 1935.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2689 to 728 and 152 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 11.58% to 18.17.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.22% or 0.16 to $73.64 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.67% or 0.52 to hit $77.63 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.47% or 5.90 to trade at $1261.70 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.03% to 110.44, while EUR/JPY rose 0.25% to 130.05.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 93.51.
