Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.19% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Konica Minolta, Inc. (T:4902), which rose 6.11% or 24.0 points to trade at 417.0 at the close. Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. (T:2502) added 5.52% or 226.0 points to end at 4317.0 and IHI Corp. (T:7013) was up 5.47% or 83.0 points to 1601.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568), which lost 4.38% or 416.0 points to trade at 9090.0 in late trade. Astellas Pharma Inc. (T:4503) declined 1.88% or 37.0 points to end at 1932.5 and The Kansai Electric Power Co. (T:9503) shed 1.27% or 14.0 points to 1087.5.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2641 to 891 and 165 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 27.60.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.71% or 0.25 to $35.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.99% or 0.38 to hit $38.70 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.31% or 5.45 to trade at $1744.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.20% to 107.80, while EUR/JPY rose 0.19% to 120.01.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 97.795.
