Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Shipbuilding, Marine Transport and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Kansai Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:9503), which rose 6.36% or 163.00 points to trade at 2,727.50 at the close. Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:5801) added 6.27% or 236.00 points to end at 3,997.00 and Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:6504) was up 5.53% or 487.00 points to 9,301.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CyberAgent Inc (TYO:4751), which lost 4.19% or 42.20 points to trade at 965.80 in late trade. Nexon Co Ltd (TYO:3659) declined 3.54% or 90.50 points to end at 2,466.00 and Konami Corp. (TYO:9766) shed 2.61% or 280.00 points to 10,460.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2149 to 1473 and 264 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 4.37% to 16.96.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.42% or 0.33 to $78.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.42% or 0.34 to hit $82.18 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 1.44% or 33.55 to trade at $2,368.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.11% to 156.81, while EUR/JPY fell 0.12% to 170.10.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 104.64.
