Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Finance & Investment, Shipbuilding and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Konami Corp. (TYO:9766), which rose 4.26% or 322.00 points to trade at 7,874.00 at the close. Resonac Holdings Corp (TYO:4004) added 4.22% or 120.50 points to end at 2,978.00 and Nomura Holdings Inc (TYO:8604) was up 4.16% or 26.70 points to 669.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included LY Corp (TYO:4689), which lost 2.38% or 11.80 points to trade at 483.30 in late trade. Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911) declined 2.18% or 94.00 points to end at 4,212.00 and Yaskawa Electric Corp. (TYO:6506) shed 1.67% or 96.00 points to 5,650.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.23% to 18.46.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.48% or 1.09 to $72.72 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 1.36% or 1.07 to hit $77.69 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.59% or 12.05 to trade at $2,037.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.31% to 144.20, while EUR/JPY fell 0.30% to 157.79.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 102.13.
