Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, Manufacturing and Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.18% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Maruha Nichiro Corp (T:1333), which rose 5.69% or 210.0 points to trade at 3900.0 at the close. Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (T:9501) added 5.67% or 32.0 points to end at 596.0 and Marubeni Corp. (T:8002) was up 4.76% or 39.1 points to 860.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tokyo Tatemono Co., Ltd. (T:8804), which lost 4.23% or 72.0 points to trade at 1631.0 in late trade. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (T:7011) declined 4.04% or 173.0 points to end at 4113.0 and Advantest Corp. (T:6857) shed 3.58% or 100.0 points to 2691.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2238 to 1133 and 194 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.65% to 15.42.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.30% or 0.92 to $69.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.96% or 0.73 to hit $75.44 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.17% or 2.20 to trade at $1311.90 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.06% to 109.03, while EUR/JPY fell 0.36% to 129.60.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 92.88.
