Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, IT and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.43%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.41%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Auto Limited (NS:BAJA), which rose 3.64% or 85.35 points to trade at 2428.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Limited (NS:TEML) added 3.43% or 17.70 points to end at 534.40 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was up 3.35% or 28.30 points to 873.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:REDY), which fell 2.55% or 85.85 points to trade at 3281.10 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) declined 1.49% or 11.25 points to end at 742.50 and Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) was down 1.15% or 1.55 points to 133.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which rose 3.16% to 2419.70, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was up 2.80% to settle at 91.70 and Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which gained 2.78% to close at 1212.55.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (BO:REDY) which was down 2.63% to 3286.80 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 1.46% to settle at 742.95 and Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which was down 0.36% to 333.75 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1038 to 409 and 10 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 584 rose and 214 declined, while 13 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 9.04% to 15.8400 a new 3-months low.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.44% or 4.70 to $1073.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.51% or 0.21 to hit $42.16 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.88% or 0.39 to trade at $44.53 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.31% to 66.235, while EUR/INR rose 0.64% to 70.8380.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.36% at 99.31.
