Investing.com – India equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Auto and Consumer Durables sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Technology, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.14%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL), which rose 3.28% or 32.50 points to trade at 1,021.90 at the close. Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) added 3.06% or 68.35 points to end at 2,301.90 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was up 2.70% or 74.85 points to 2,851.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which lost 0.83% or 26.70 points to trade at 3,189.65 in late trade. Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) declined 0.76% or 19.20 points to end at 2,495.55 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) shed 0.75% or 1.40 points to 185.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which rose 1.67% to 9,479.35, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 1.14% to settle at 2,972.55 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which gained 1.01% to close at 5,043.90.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 0.86% to 3,189.90 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 0.84% to settle at 2,494.20 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 0.70% to 185.25 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1093 to 871 and 72 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1792 rose and 1731 declined, while 170 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.42% to 11.40.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.68% or 13.20 to $1,942.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.55% or 0.38 to hit $69.54 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.42 to trade at $74.43 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.08% to 82.05, while EUR/INR rose 0.19% to 89.47.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 102.35.
