Investing.com – India equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Consumer Durables and Metals sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Healthcare, Auto and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.13%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC), which rose 5.40% or 25.50 points to trade at 494.10 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) added 5.14% or 17.45 points to end at 353.00 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was up 2.75% or 40.15 points to 1497.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which lost 8.49% or 51.80 points to trade at 555.50 in late trade. Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) declined 4.89% or 5.35 points to end at 103.20 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) shed 4.67% or 46.70 points to 950.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 4.60% to 494.50, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was up 2.44% to settle at 1498.40 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 1.58% to close at 134.60.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 5.54% to 103.25 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which lost 2.31% to settle at 154.65 and Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was down 2.28% to 75.05 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1229 to 379 and 49 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1811 fell and 666 advanced, while 112 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.89% to 14.7300.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.32% or 4.35 to $1346.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.17% or 0.09 to hit $54.02 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.77% or 0.48 to trade at $61.66 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.38% to 69.725, while EUR/INR rose 0.28% to 78.1100.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 97.088.
