Investing.com – India equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, IT and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Real Estate, Metals and Auto sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.02%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were ITC Ltd (NS:ITC), which rose 1.99% or 7.95 points to trade at 408.25 at the close. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 1.81% or 56.05 points to end at 3,160.85 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) was up 1.73% or 73.60 points to 4,330.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL), which lost 3.20% or 16.95 points to trade at 513.30 in late trade. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) declined 2.26% or 23.05 points to end at 998.75 and Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) shed 2.17% or 39.90 points to 1,803.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which rose 1.99% to 408.25, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 1.84% to settle at 3,161.65 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which gained 1.42% to close at 368.00.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 2.26% to 998.30 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 1.86% to settle at 8,557.80 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 1.71% to 106.15 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1161 to 744 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1847 fell and 1497 advanced, while 129 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.60% to 11.63 a new 3-year low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.84% or 17.05 to $2,002.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.14% or 0.11 to hit $77.26 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.17% or 0.14 to trade at $80.96 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.06% to 82.10, while EUR/INR fell 0.01% to 90.05.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 101.58.
