Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Auto, Technology and IT sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 1.36% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 1.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 5.63% or 11.30 points to trade at 212.75 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 4.76% or 11.55 points to end at 253.75 and Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) was up 3.74% or 33.90 points to 943.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which lost 7.03% or 59.60 points to trade at 791.60 in late trade. Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) declined 6.79% or 1679.50 points to end at 23235.75 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) shed 6.45% or 17.25 points to 251.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 5.79% to 212.85, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was up 3.09% to settle at 240.10 and Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which gained 1.60% to close at 276.90.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 6.66% to 791.15 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 4.14% to settle at 2162.45 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 3.91% to 570.70 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 950 to 677 and 34 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1410 rose and 1156 declined, while 136 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 7.62% to 18.1175 a new 6-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.40 to $1207.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.07% or 0.05 to hit $75.28 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.12 to trade at $84.92 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.09% to 73.245, while EUR/INR rose 0.52% to 84.6515.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 95.09.
