Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Banking and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.95%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which rose 3.21% or 11.45 points to trade at 368.50 at the close. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) added 2.89% or 4.60 points to end at 163.65 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 2.68% or 2.05 points to 78.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which lost 4.17% or 7.45 points to trade at 171.40 in late trade. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) declined 3.78% or 78.65 points to end at 2001.00 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) shed 3.62% or 111.95 points to 2981.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 3.12% to 368.00, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 2.93% to settle at 163.60 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which gained 2.61% to close at 78.55.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 4.64% to 170.50 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 3.76% to settle at 2002.30 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 3.61% to 1615.75 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 980 to 511 and 97 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1451 fell and 826 advanced, while 176 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.14% to 43.6075.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.43% or 7.40 to $1705.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 9.56% or 1.95 to hit $22.34 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 7.72% or 2.10 to trade at $29.30 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.13% to 75.727, while EUR/INR fell 0.39% to 82.1600.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 99.868.
