Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Capital Goods, Oil & Gas and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.86% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which rose 2.89% or 23.20 points to trade at 825.80 at the close. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 2.50% or 61.70 points to end at 2527.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was up 2.36% or 18.60 points to 805.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which lost 6.64% or 14.00 points to trade at 196.70 in late trade. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) declined 4.69% or 8.85 points to end at 179.90 and Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) shed 4.66% or 16.20 points to 331.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 3.02% to 826.50, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 2.39% to settle at 2523.55 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 2.21% to close at 514.80.
The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 3.15% to 6413.85 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 2.89% to settle at 544.00 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 2.82% to 857.05 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1225 to 386 and 71 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1798 fell and 735 advanced, while 160 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.50% to 21.4100.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.09% or 1.75 to $1912.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.09% or 0.43 to hit $39.97 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.25% or 0.52 to trade at $41.96 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.16% to 73.453, while EUR/INR fell 0.21% to 86.4020.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 93.537.
