Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Power, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.85%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 2.90% or 17.40 points to trade at 618.20 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 1.21% or 37.60 points to end at 3,144.00 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was up 0.99% or 15.35 points to 1,564.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE), which lost 2.88% or 21.35 points to trade at 718.70 in late trade. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) declined 2.76% or 7.25 points to end at 255.45 and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) shed 2.49% or 131.55 points to 5,151.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which rose 1.26% to 3,144.75, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 0.98% to settle at 1,563.80 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which gained 0.24% to close at 593.75.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 2.76% to 255.60 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 2.34% to settle at 1,356.85 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 2.23% to 2,696.35 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1173 to 762 and 70 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1876 fell and 1465 advanced, while 117 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.60% to 11.53.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.41% or 7.85 to $1,923.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.28% or 0.20 to hit $72.00 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.29% or 0.22 to trade at $76.74 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.02% to 82.75, while EUR/INR fell 0.01% to 90.14.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 102.65.
