Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Capital Goods and Auto sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.69%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which rose 3.23% or 8.45 points to trade at 267.85 at the close. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 2.18% or 46.70 points to end at 2188.85 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was up 0.55% or 1.50 points to 276.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which lost 9.16% or 20.50 points to trade at 203.25 in late trade. Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) declined 6.01% or 60.10 points to end at 939.70 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) shed 4.81% or 111.35 points to 2204.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 2.16% to 2187.80, Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was up 1.39% to settle at 276.30 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which gained 0.97% to close at 1293.00.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 9.14% to 203.20 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which lost 3.69% to settle at 118.75 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 3.68% to 7556.05 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1210 to 386 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1764 fell and 741 advanced, while 142 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.97% to 16.9225.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.40 to $1199.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.06% or 0.76 to hit $72.33 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.78% or 0.63 to trade at $81.42 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.25% to 72.555, while EUR/INR fell 0.21% to 85.0595.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 94.11.
