Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the IT, Technology and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.68%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.86%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST), which rose 4.03% or 784.65 points to trade at 20,250.00 at the close. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) added 2.16% or 5.00 points to end at 236.20 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) was up 2.11% or 11.25 points to 544.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which lost 9.30% or 129.20 points to trade at 1,260.00 in late trade. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) declined 5.18% or 56.35 points to end at 1,030.50 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) shed 2.78% or 29.85 points to 1,042.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which rose 4.03% to 20,259.50, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 2.29% to settle at 236.45 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which gained 2.04% to close at 544.00.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 9.40% to 1,258.10 in late trade, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which lost 5.25% to settle at 1,029.75 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 2.72% to 1,042.70 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 986 to 959 and 61 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1783 rose and 1676 declined, while 179 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.00% to 12.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.28% or 5.55 to $2,021.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.45% or 0.37 to hit $82.06 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.45% or 0.39 to trade at $85.92 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.20% to 82.01, while EUR/INR rose 0.08% to 90.07.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 101.36.
