Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Capital Goods, Banking and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.64%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which rose 3.16% or 30.10 points to trade at 982.10 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) added 1.30% or 12.45 points to end at 968.00 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was up 0.86% or 2.00 points to 234.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which lost 7.07% or 28.85 points to trade at 379.10 in late trade. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) declined 2.38% or 19.15 points to end at 784.75 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) shed 2.31% or 12.35 points to 521.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 3.19% to 982.05, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 1.36% to settle at 968.50 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which gained 0.37% to close at 2,383.85.
The worst performers were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 7.03% to 379.10 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 2.36% to settle at 521.35 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 1.85% to 1,876.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1245 to 580 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2030 fell and 1247 advanced, while 126 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.57% to 20.29.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.21% or 3.60 to $1,681.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.02% or 0.02 to hit $87.29 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.11 to trade at $92.56 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.14% to 82.28, while EUR/INR rose 0.35% to 80.01.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 112.96.
