Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Auto and Metals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.64%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which rose 6.46% or 17.00 points to trade at 279.75 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) added 3.02% or 28.55 points to end at 969.40 and Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) was up 2.11% or 4.55 points to 219.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which lost 30.92% or 134.15 points to trade at 318.40 in late trade. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) declined 8.11% or 570.70 points to end at 6513.40 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) shed 6.93% or 262.70 points to 3510.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 2.71% to 219.65, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was up 2.54% to settle at 971.25 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 1.81% to close at 307.05.
The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 7.40% to 6516.35 in late trade, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which lost 4.23% to settle at 2670.05 and Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was down 2.48% to 90.55 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1223 to 369 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1799 fell and 662 advanced, while 143 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.46% to 17.6900.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.18% or 2.25 to $1282.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.34% or 0.18 to hit $53.31 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.13% or 0.08 to trade at $61.17 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.29% to 71.197, while EUR/INR rose 0.57% to 80.7115.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 96.102.
