Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Metals and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.57%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which rose 1.34% or 36.00 points to trade at 2,722.00 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) added 1.04% or 12.65 points to end at 1,232.95 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) was up 0.98% or 4.15 points to 428.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM), which lost 1.95% or 38.05 points to trade at 1,909.00 in late trade. Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) declined 1.74% or 79.10 points to end at 4,476.00 and SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL) shed 1.65% or 19.50 points to 1,161.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 1.27% to 1,235.65, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 0.87% to settle at 427.65 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 0.68% to close at 793.20.
The worst performers were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 1.80% to 1,909.85 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 1.50% to settle at 1,074.65 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.47% to 3,209.10 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1006 to 906 and 71 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1689 fell and 1672 advanced, while 134 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.41% to 13.10.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.06% or 1.15 to $1,991.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.64% or 0.45 to hit $71.31 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.63% or 0.47 to trade at $75.38 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.11% to 82.38, while EUR/INR fell 0.23% to 89.18.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 102.79.
