Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Auto, Metals and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.57%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE), which rose 2.77% or 11.00 points to trade at 408.25 at the close. GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) added 2.12% or 6.85 points to end at 329.75 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was up 1.54% or 10.05 points to 662.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which lost 3.50% or 18.75 points to trade at 517.95 in late trade. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) declined 2.75% or 81.90 points to end at 2888.65 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) shed 2.86% or 8.15 points to 277.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which rose 2.87% to 408.20, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was up 0.90% to settle at 1468.00 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which gained 0.80% to close at 1983.20.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 2.95% to 518.75 in late trade, Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which lost 2.43% to settle at 345.40 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 2.42% to 2900.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 978 to 630 and 47 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1534 fell and 1085 advanced, while 121 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.04% to 13.2500.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.11% or 1.50 to $1311.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.34% or 0.23 to hit $68.66 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.35% or 0.26 to trade at $73.88 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.30% to 66.895, while EUR/INR rose 0.11% to 80.0183.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 92.39.
