Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the IT, Technology and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.55%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 2.61% or 3.90 points to trade at 152.80 at the close. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) added 2.29% or 6.15 points to end at 274.00 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) was up 1.50% or 2.00 points to 135.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which lost 3.70% or 13.30 points to trade at 346.05 in late trade. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 2.86% or 81.25 points to end at 2752.70 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) shed 2.42% or 54.30 points to 2183.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 2.28% to 152.75, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 1.47% to settle at 135.00 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 1.19% to close at 165.90.
The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 3.08% to 2754.95 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 2.58% to settle at 1082.55 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 2.58% to 2182.45 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 932 to 663 and 60 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1405 fell and 1054 advanced, while 167 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.13% to 15.6275 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.23% or 3.05 to $1330.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.58% or 0.31 to hit $52.94 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.73% or 0.45 to trade at $60.83 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.33% to 69.308, while EUR/INR rose 0.30% to 77.9650.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 97.085.
