Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Oil & Gas and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.51% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE), which rose 4.32% or 33.55 points to trade at 809.65 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 2.01% or 60.65 points to end at 3,071.75 and Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) was up 1.42% or 34.60 points to 2,479.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ITC Ltd (NS:ITC), which lost 2.05% or 9.25 points to trade at 441.00 in late trade. LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM) declined 1.93% or 100.35 points to end at 5,097.55 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) shed 1.75% or 4.35 points to 243.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which rose 2.10% to 3,072.40, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 1.19% to settle at 572.10 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which gained 0.53% to close at 1,477.15.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 2.04% to 440.85 in late trade, LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which lost 1.99% to settle at 5,092.65 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.67% to 243.65 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 999 to 997 and 53 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1786 rose and 1671 declined, while 160 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.95% to 12.24 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.03% or 0.50 to $1,927.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.82% or 0.65 to hit $80.03 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.83% or 0.69 to trade at $84.14 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.23% to 83.07, while EUR/INR fell 0.16% to 90.42.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 103.21.
