Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Auto and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.49%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN), which rose 2.16% or 18.20 points to trade at 862.40 at the close. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) added 2.15% or 46.80 points to end at 2222.50 and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) was up 2.09% or 6.00 points to 293.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which lost 2.64% or 10.15 points to trade at 374.35 in late trade. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) declined 1.45% or 14.20 points to end at 964.45 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) shed 1.42% or 16.95 points to 1175.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 1.77% to 187.30, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 1.51% to settle at 584.50 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 1.26% to close at 1755.00.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.42% to 374.35 in late trade, Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which lost 1.42% to settle at 360.80 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 1.34% to 1175.20 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 781 to 750 and 80 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1159 rose and 1138 declined, while 116 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.34% to 12.6975.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.01% or 0.10 to $1227.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.30% or 0.20 to hit $67.86 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.61% or 0.44 to trade at $72.83 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.06% to 68.355, while EUR/INR fell 0.19% to 79.5550.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 94.65.
