Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, IT and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.47%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM), which rose 1.32% or 282.00 points to trade at 21,630.00 at the close. Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) added 1.12% or 39.20 points to end at 3,535.85 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 0.91% or 3.90 points to 432.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE), which lost 2.43% or 20.30 points to trade at 816.00 in late trade. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) declined 1.81% or 129.75 points to end at 7,047.15 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) shed 1.26% or 19.35 points to 1,518.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which rose 0.46% to 8,732.20, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 0.27% to settle at 520.55 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which gained 0.20% to close at 4,225.70.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.81% to 7,045.15 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 1.33% to settle at 226.25 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 1.20% to 1,518.85 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 986 to 846 and 46 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1834 rose and 1453 declined, while 129 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 6.19% to 19.57.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.83% or 14.70 to $1,776.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.08% or 0.08 to hit $94.81 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.10% or 0.10 to trade at $101.32 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.14% to 79.90, while EUR/INR rose 0.27% to 79.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 108.36.
