Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Banking and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.46%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which rose 1.81% or 45.30 points to trade at 2,552.40 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) added 1.54% or 21.75 points to end at 1,430.20 and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) was up 1.48% or 11.70 points to 802.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN), which lost 2.79% or 93.10 points to trade at 3,237.90 in late trade. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) declined 1.67% or 30.65 points to end at 1,800.85 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) shed 1.50% or 6.90 points to 451.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 1.59% to 1,429.55, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 0.83% to settle at 2,980.00 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which gained 0.73% to close at 242.00.
The worst performers were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 2.89% to 3,234.25 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which lost 1.63% to settle at 1,800.40 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 1.56% to 451.45 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1112 to 870 and 62 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1824 fell and 1644 advanced, while 139 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.33% to 11.40.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.21% or 4.05 to $1,954.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.31% or 0.26 to hit $84.14 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.16% or 0.14 to trade at $87.41 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.30% to 82.67, while EUR/INR rose 0.30% to 91.16.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 101.98.
