Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Power, Auto and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.45%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which rose 1.89% or 8.20 points to trade at 444.60 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) added 1.47% or 8.45 points to end at 585.05 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) was up 2.01% or 43.35 points to 2200.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which lost 5.56% or 16.10 points to trade at 273.70 in late trade. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) declined 2.27% or 40.65 points to end at 1751.40 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) shed 2.58% or 6.55 points to 248.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 2.08% to 444.40, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 1.99% to settle at 2200.40 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which gained 1.66% to close at 582.95.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was down 2.19% to 78.00 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 2.16% to settle at 1751.65 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 1.90% to 742.90 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 816 to 745 and 68 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1209 fell and 1203 advanced, while 172 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 10.49% to 12.6950.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.46% or 22.35 to $1550.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 4.25% or 2.60 to hit $63.78 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 4.41% or 2.92 to trade at $69.17 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.61% to 71.778, while EUR/INR rose 0.25% to 79.9030.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 96.738.
