Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Auto, Oil & Gas and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.20%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which rose 0.97% or 10.60 points to trade at 1,103.15 at the close. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) added 0.96% or 23.70 points to end at 2,483.70 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) was up 0.92% or 28.40 points to 3,100.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which lost 2.56% or 32.20 points to trade at 1,227.15 in late trade. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) declined 1.66% or 61.20 points to end at 3,632.95 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) shed 1.66% or 2.80 points to 165.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which rose 0.99% to 2,483.25, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was up 0.86% to settle at 3,098.65 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which gained 0.77% to close at 1,101.30.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 2.46% to 1,227.25 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 1.57% to settle at 8,844.95 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.53% to 6,786.90 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1165 to 710 and 60 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1966 fell and 1409 advanced, while 123 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.28% to 14.39 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.23% or 4.05 to $1,767.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.13% or 0.11 to hit $81.75 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.07 to trade at $89.71 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.22% to 81.69, while EUR/INR rose 0.37% to 84.76.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 106.37.
