Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.17%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL), which rose 3.97% or 54.00 points to trade at 1,413.95 at the close. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) added 2.65% or 16.85 points to end at 651.80 and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) was up 2.63% or 140.20 points to 5,478.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which lost 3.69% or 21.60 points to trade at 563.05 in late trade. Axis Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) declined 3.12% or 32.00 points to end at 994.35 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) shed 2.70% or 5.45 points to 196.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which rose 1.99% to 3,109.95, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was up 1.56% to settle at 2,527.95 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which gained 1.13% to close at 209.55.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 3.64% to 563.15 in late trade, Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 3.03% to settle at 994.50 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.99% to 7,219.30 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1066 to 1027 and 43 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1937 rose and 1657 declined, while 130 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.55% to 11.83.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.42% or 8.35 to $1,995.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.91% or 0.66 to hit $73.56 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.88% or 0.68 to trade at $78.10 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.07% to 83.26, while EUR/INR rose 0.18% to 90.48.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 103.99.
