Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Power, IT and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.17%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which rose 1.93% or 11.05 points to trade at 584.90 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 1.29% or 35.20 points to end at 2,763.65 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was up 1.21% or 8.65 points to 726.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which lost 2.69% or 29.15 points to trade at 1,052.85 in late trade. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) declined 2.60% or 10.95 points to end at 410.35 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) shed 2.25% or 5.25 points to 228.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which rose 1.89% to 584.80, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 1.53% to settle at 2,765.75 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 1.05% to close at 818.40.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 2.66% to 1,052.95 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 2.04% to settle at 228.50 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.47% to 178.15 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 933 to 913 and 78 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1693 rose and 1604 declined, while 125 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.32% to 15.94.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.56% or 25.80 to $1,624.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.63% or 1.47 to hit $88.53 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.35% or 1.30 to trade at $94.86 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.27% to 82.93, while EUR/INR fell 0.56% to 80.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.49% at 112.89.
