Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Banking and Auto sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.06%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.08%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN), which rose 3.87% or 3.45 points to trade at 92.60 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 2.77% or 14.95 points to end at 554.80 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was up 2.62% or 8.10 points to 317.80 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which lost 4.64% or 18.60 points to trade at 381.85 in late trade. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 3.63% or 6.15 points to end at 163.50 and AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) shed 3.27% or 13.15 points to 388.80.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 2.68% to 554.10, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was up 2.04% to settle at 1553.15 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which gained 1.63% to close at 1458.90.

The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 4.56% to 382.00 in late trade, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 3.30% to settle at 388.65 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 2.43% to 418.00 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 799 to 682 and 107 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1161 fell and 1030 advanced, while 169 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.43% to 38.0175.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.08% or 1.40 to $1739.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.60% or 0.44 to hit $28.00 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.61% or 0.50 to trade at $31.63 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.37% to 75.760, while EUR/INR rose 0.43% to 81.8970.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 100.325.
