Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Metals, Healthcare and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.05%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which rose 3.06% or 76.60 points to trade at 2,580.15 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) added 1.61% or 19.85 points to end at 1,254.10 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) was up 1.53% or 3.25 points to 215.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which lost 1.35% or 11.00 points to trade at 803.80 in late trade. Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) declined 1.19% or 55.15 points to end at 4,588.65 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) shed 1.07% or 5.05 points to 465.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which rose 3.10% to 2,581.20, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 1.57% to settle at 1,251.95 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which gained 1.39% to close at 215.50.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.39% to 803.45 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 1.08% to settle at 109.95 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 0.87% to 7,044.80 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1113 to 771 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2009 rose and 1347 declined, while 141 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.69% to 15.40.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.69% or 12.55 to $1,810.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.59% or 0.47 to hit $79.06 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.43% or 0.36 to trade at $84.32 a barrel.
USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 82.83, while EUR/INR rose 0.02% to 88.13.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 103.90.
