Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Capital Goods and Green Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.85%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 1.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (NS:APSE), which rose 6.90% or 17.30 points to trade at 268.05 at the close. Housing Development Finance Corp. (NS:HDFC) added 4.07% or 53.05 points to end at 1355.00 and ICICI Bank Ltd . (NS:ICBK) was up 4.04% or 10.45 points to 269.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI), which lost 1.50% or 5.400 points to trade at 354.050 in late trade. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) declined 0.63% or 1.75 points to end at 276.70 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) shed 0.62% or 7.30 points to 1175.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (BO:APSE) which rose 6.30% to 266.70, ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which was up 4.58% to settle at 270.40 and Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which gained 3.82% to close at 1351.80.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 0.75% to 276.35 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 0.49% to settle at 1177.15 and NTPC Limited (BO:NTPC) which was up 0.10% to 147.60 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1101 to 393 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1864 rose and 902 declined, while 195 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 7.14% to 14.5375.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.55% or 6.90 to $1263.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.00% or 0.50 to hit $50.44 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.85% or 0.44 to trade at $51.96 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.18% to 66.675, while EUR/INR fell 0.03% to 73.4600.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 97.62.
