Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Healthcare and Consumer Durables sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.39% to hit a new 52-week high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which rose 3.70% or 28.80 points to trade at 808.05 at the close. Bajaj Auto Limited (NS:BAJA) added 3.45% or 102.90 points to end at 3088.70 and TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC) was up 3.35% or 13.05 points to 403.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yes Bank Ltd. (NS:YESB), which lost 5.23% or 73.30 points to trade at 1328.25 in late trade. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) declined 4.85% or 118.45 points to end at 2322.10 and Tech Mahindra Limited (NS:TEML) shed 2.71% or 12.80 points to 459.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 3.69% to 808.20, Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which was up 3.55% to settle at 3091.95 and TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which gained 3.32% to close at 402.90.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 5.14% to 2321.15 in late trade, Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which lost 1.92% to settle at 388.90 and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BO:BHEL) which was down 1.85% to 156.85 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 892 to 568 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 970 rose and 661 declined, while 49 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.23% to 13.1150.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.23% or 3.05 to $1352.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.69% or 0.77 to hit $46.27 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.35% or 0.65 to trade at $48.63 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.10% to 66.415, while EUR/INR rose 0.37% to 75.0000.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 94.63.
