Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.17%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS), which rose 4.13% or 40.25 points to trade at 1014.90 at the close. Tech Mahindra Limited (NS:TEML) added 3.06% or 14.85 points to end at 499.85 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) was up 2.83% or 65.60 points to 2382.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN), which lost 4.06% or 28.70 points to trade at 678.05 in late trade. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) declined 1.77% or 12.85 points to end at 714.00 and Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) shed 1.67% or 24.85 points to 1466.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 3.12% to 2396.70, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (BO:APSE) which was up 2.23% to settle at 311.25 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 2.10% to close at 968.05.
The worst performers were Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which was down 2.06% to 1464.60 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 1.57% to settle at 273.05 and Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which was down 1.53% to 482.95 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 835 to 671 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1510 fell and 1280 advanced, while 149 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.43% to 13.1775.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.79% or 9.80 to $1227.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.02% or 0.54 to hit $53.54 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.19% or 0.66 to trade at $56.29 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 66.850, while EUR/INR rose 0.00% to 71.1401.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 100.77.
