India shares higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 5.32%

Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Auto, Banking and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 5.32% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 5.32%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which rose 13.38% or 2107.50 points to trade at 17860.20 at the close. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) added 12.34% or 312.40 points to end at 2862.90 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was up 10.94% or 140.25 points to 1419.60 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which lost 2.68% or 5.40 points to trade at 196.20 in late trade. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 2.87% or 8.85 points to end at 301.40 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) shed 1.63% or 13.40 points to 805.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which rose 12.52% to 2849.40, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was up 10.89% to settle at 6585.25 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 10.74% to close at 1419.60.

The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 2.39% to 196.35 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 1.94% to settle at 805.10 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.74% to 2065.60 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1217 to 372 and 56 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1773 rose and 692 declined, while 138 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.96% to 15.4000.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.35% or 5.25 to $1511.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.76% or 0.44 to hit $58.63 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.61% or 0.39 to trade at $64.79 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.37% to 71.105, while EUR/INR fell 0.33% to 78.5355.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 97.933.
